How an oil project can lower your 2026 taxes

FlowTex Energy is a Southeast Texas oil and gas company. The HD Production Package is a private joint venture, not a fund, that lets accredited investors own a share of 15 specific wells and use the tax treatment Congress gives domestic drilling.

  1. 1

You own a share of real wells

Through the joint venture you hold a working interest: a direct share of each well’s production and costs, alongside the operator. Wells you can point to on a map.

  2. 2

New drilling costs may become 2026 deductions

Labor, fuel and site work (intangible drilling costs) are generally deductible in the year they’re paid, and equipment may qualify for 100% bonus depreciation.

  3. 3

The deduction may offset active income

A working interest is generally not a passive investment, so the deduction may be usable against wages and business income, depending on how you hold it.

  4. 4

    Production is already flowing

Six of the 15 wells already produce, so you share in revenue from real production, not only new drills. Part of that income may be sheltered by the depletion allowance.

Tax treatment depends on your situation and current tax law. All tax figures are estimates. Review this strategy with your CPA or tax advisor before investing.

Deadline

The funding date is what counts

Questions

What first-time investors ask

What exactly is the HD Production Package?

A private joint venture that owns working interests in 15 Southeast Texas oil and gas wells, operated by Whitehead Resources. Investors share in the wells’ production revenue and costs. It’s a direct position in specific wells, not a fund.

How does the tax deduction work?

Intangible drilling costs (labor, fuel, drilling fluids, site work) can generally be deducted by working-interest owners in the year they’re paid, and equipment may qualify for 100% bonus depreciation. Up to 100% of your investment may be deductible in the year it’s paid. Illustration only: at the 37% federal bracket, that could mean an estimated federal tax reduction of up to $60K, if fully deductible in 2026. Tax treatment depends on your situation; consult your tax advisor.

How much do I need to invest?

It depends on your 2026 tax picture. Investment size is covered on a short, no-obligation call, where our team walks through what could fit your plan.

What happens if a new well doesn’t hit?

The money spent drilling that well is lost, though its drilling costs may still be deductible. Your position also includes wells that are already producing. You can still lose money. See the risk factors in the offering documents.

When do I need to fund?

To count toward your 2026 taxes, funding must be complete by December 31, 2026. Funding by then doesn’t by itself guarantee a deduction; that depends on your situation. The final cutoff to participate is January 15, 2027. Subscription paperwork takes time, so start early.

Can I invest through an LLC or trust?

Yes. Many FlowTex partners invest through an LLC, trust or other entity, and our team can help with the paperwork. How you hold the interest can affect the tax treatment, so confirm the structure with your CPA.

Are there limits on the deduction?

Yes. The deduction is most useful when it isn’t passive for you and you have enough income to offset. The excess business loss limit, at-risk rules and the alternative minimum tax can reduce what you can use in a given year, and state treatment varies. Your CPA can tell you what applies to you.

Do I need oil and gas experience?

No. This offering is built for accredited investors who may be new to oil and gas. Our team walks you through the project, the documents and the timeline, and you can review everything in the data room with your CPA.

What is the 11% estimate based on?

It is an estimate, after production taxes, based on expected rates from the wells already producing. It is not guaranteed, and actual results will vary. Wells decline, and you can lose money.

Can I get my money out early?

Plan on this being a long-term, illiquid investment. Interests in a private joint venture generally can’t be sold or redeemed easily.

Who are FlowTex Energy and Whitehead Resources?

FlowTex Energy is a Southeast Texas oil and gas company that puts together drilling and production programs for accredited investors. Whitehead Resources operates the wells. The two companies share owners, which is disclosed in the offering documents.

What are the risks?

Oil and gas investing is speculative. New wells may not produce, producing wells decline, commodity prices change, tax laws can change, and the investment is illiquid. You can lose some or all of your investment. Review the risk factors in the Confidential Information Memorandum.
